If you're sending a premaster to Dialect Audio (or any professional mastering engineer), this is a safe and professional delivery guide:
1. Export Format
-
WAV (preferred) or AIFF
-
24-bit or 32-bit float
-
Original sample rate (44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, etc.)
-
Stereo interleaved file
2. Leave Headroom
-
Keep peaks around -3 dB to -6 dB
-
No clipping anywhere in the track
3. Remove Mastering Processing
Before exporting, bypass:
-
Brickwall limiters
-
Loudness maximizers
-
Clipping plugins
-
Mastering chains intended to make the track loud
Master bus EQ or compression may be left on only if it is part of your sound design.
4. Check the Beginning and End
Make sure:
-
The first transient isn't cut off
-
Reverb and delay tails fade naturally
-
No abrupt endings
5. Include Reference Tracks
Send:
-
1–3 professionally released songs with a similar sound
-
A note explaining what you like about them (loudness, bass, width, vocals, etc.)
6. Name Files Clearly
Example:
ArtistName - TrackName - Premaster.wav ArtistName - TrackName - Reference.wav
Clear file naming helps avoid mistakes.
7. Upload and Send
Common delivery methods:
-
WeTransfer
-
Dropbox
-
Google Drive
Include:
-
Artist name
-
Track name
-
